Why PDF attachments become too large
A PDF can contain high-resolution photographs, scanned pages, embedded fonts and graphics. Those elements preserve appearance, but they can make even a short document too large for an email provider or online form. Compression reduces the stored data while keeping the document in PDF format.
Check the limit before compressing
Attachment limits vary between email and form providers. The message itself also adds a small amount of overhead, so aim below the stated maximum rather than matching it exactly. If a document contains confidential information, confirm that email is an appropriate way to send it.
Compress and review the result
